So, why do I even craft and how it helps me. A look into creating to relieve stress and anxiety.
What are the Benefits
Why do I even craft is a very common question I get. I would like to counter that with well what else would I do. But, I think it comes down to we all need an activity or hobby to combat the stress that we get bombarded with on a daily basis. Whether you go jogging, or do yoga, or woodworking we all deal with stress in different ways. I deal with my stress in crafting, creating, pinteresting, or hoarding craft supplies. Yes, my hoarding of craft supplies is a problem or a solution, however you look at it. I also get many beautiful works of art that I made and can get a sense of accomplishment and some pride in myself. I can say that I can get insecure sometimes and this will pull me out of those insecurities.
What can Crafting do for You
Let me explain a little bit more about what I mean from the paragraph above. When I get stressed out I like to change my mind of thinking to doing something else. If I get worried about work, money, family, or friends and there is nothing else I can do but sit and wait. I know you know what I am talking about. I can't just sit and not do anything. How many times have you just sat down and tried not thinking over, well I should of done that differently or man if I could only be able to pay for this. It happens right and I am telling you that you can't change to past. Don't dwell on it. But it's really hard to do, well I readjust to crafting because my mind does not have to dwell on it. What I have to think about right now is that I need to make a card or ooohh I think the door needs a new wreath on it. Also, in relieving that stress I get accomplishment because I made something out of a bit of glue, glitter, paper and some ink. It's something that I can show people and say yes I made that from me. The insecure times that I have go away. Who can be insecure when you make something with your own hands and ingenuity (plus Pinterest). You are almost like a little kid again showing your parents your art you just made. Do you remember that feeling? That sense of pride you had and your parents being proud in you. Wouldn't you love that feeling too?
